Stroudwater consultants are a team of clinicians, hospital managers, corporate officers, financial analysts and engineers, performance improvement experts, insurance executives and others. Stroudwater is recognized nationally in a variety of healthcare provider types and markets, and we work in an average of 45+ U.S. states each year. Our broad market exposure  understanding of and experience with all elements of the healthcare delivery system. We use this experience to serve a wide range of clients in an increasingly interconnected healthcare environment.

As a specialty healthcare consulting firm, Stroudwater focuses on mission-critical strategic, operational, and financial improvement opportunities. We eschew rigid product offerings and prepackaged solutions in favor of comprehensive assessment and diagnosis that we combine with tested approaches and strategies from our experience in the field. We implement our work from the perspective of a trusted advisor to our clients. We remain available to ‘walk the walk’ with our clients and rise to the challenge of tailoring solutions to each unique client need.

Marc Voyvodich

Founder | Chair, Board of Directors

Marc Voyvodich is a Stroudwater founder and the chair of the board of directors. His primary focus in his more than 30 years as a consultant has been assisting clients in performance improvement through clinical service and facility, strategic, and operational planning. Preceding the creation of Stroudwater Associates, Marc was the first executive director of Synernet, a 20+hospital alliance in northern New England. Marc served as a program officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where his responsibilities included managing national programs in emergency medicine, rural medical practice development, and new program development.

Marc has worked on the health administration adjunct faculties at the University of New Hampshire and the University of North Carolina; he has presented healthcare seminars at Harvard University and has lectured and published on a variety of subjects in the field. He earned his undergraduate degree at Colgate University and his M.H.A. from George Washington University. After graduation, Marc completed an Advanced Fellowship in Health Services Administration at the American Hospital and BlueCross/BlueShield Associations.

Robert Kirsch

Managing Director | Board of Directors

Robert Kirsch has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare, beginning as a medical student at the School of Medicine at the University of Rochester. Drawn to consulting as a means to effect change in a troubled and unsustainable industry, Rob joined the firm in 2005. His focus is centered on empowering clients through periods of change. A leader in the Affiliations and Partnerships practice, he is skilled in assessing strategic options, affiliations, corporate finance, and capital planning opportunities.

Rob graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a major in Psychology. He earned his M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance, Health Sciences Management and Competitive and Organizational Strategy from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester. Rob is also a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Atlanta.

Rob lives in suburban Atlanta with his wife and twin boys. Weekends are filled with discovering the world together through travel, general mischief, and animated bedtime stories.

Johnn Downes

Board of Directors

John Downes brings more than 18 years’ experience to clients in the healthcare facilities planning arena and has led the development of strategic facility master plans as well as functional and space programs for high-end clinical services.  Recently, John has been working with real estate clients to identify and analyze markets to determine potential healthcare facility demand. Before joining Stroudwater Associates, he directed the consulting division of a Boston-based architectural firm that enjoys a national leadership position in the healthcare arena.

A nationally recognized speaker, John currently serves as a guest lecturer in the Brown University Executive Master’s in Healthcare Leadership program.  He has also recently presented on linking strategy, finance, and facilities to the New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE), The Compass Healthcare Symposium, at Healthcare Design 2011, and in 2009 at the ASHE Planning and Design Conference.

A graduate of Rutgers University, John earned a Masters of Business Administration from Boston College. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
